Beyond Functions - Understanding Control Flow as Program Orchestration
2025-06-01
Control flow and functions represent distinct programming concepts. Functions are designed to return values and may incorporate conditional evaluation as part of their execution logic. In contrast, general control flow encompasses broader structural patterns like those found in StateCharts, which deal with concurrency, branching, sequencing, and temporal ordering of operations.
While functions focus on computation and value transformation, control flow addresses the orchestration and coordination of program execution across different states and time sequences.
